Amplexa introduces testing for COVID-19.

COVID-19 testing can now be performed locally in Greenland.
When testing for COVID-19, time is of essence. Amplexa and Landslægeembedet in Greenland has joined forces in establishing a laboratory facility in Nuuk. It is now possible for the local health authorities to have a result of the test within a day or two. Until now, Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen has performed the analyses. This solution involves spending time for transport and waiting for results.
So far around 1000 persons have been tested for COVID-19 in Greenland. 11 have been positive for the new coronavirus. The Health authorities in Greenland have applied a containment strategy and for the past 12 days, not a single positive person has been identified.
COVID-19, the disease, is caused by a new coronavirus. Coronavirus is already well known . It causes symptoms from a mild cold to serious infections in the airways. The outbreak with the new coronavirus began in China in december 2019 and spread quickly to the rest of the world. WHO proclaimed COVID-19 pandemic March 11th, 2020.
